The Blush Creative 2018
Running a wedding focused business is no easy feat. From branding, to pricing, to marketing, to client relations - creative entrepreneurs have a lot of balls to juggle. I launched the Blush Creative Workshop in 2016 with the aim to deepen the knowledge and styling skills of individuals interested or involved in wedding planning. This past February we had the pleasure of hosting 15 new attendees for an inspiring weekend of non-stop styling and business education. It truly is one of my favourite weekends of the year and I was blown away by the talent and commitment of our group.
Barbara from The Lettering Studio kindly contributed beautiful signage and place cards which we displayed on flower pins to welcome our guests.
We were lucky enough to have Contemporary Furniture Rentals provide their natural wishbone chairs with rush seat. Tables were adorned with my favourite tablecloth, oatmeal linen, from The Linen Closet.
Treasures for our gift basket were kindly contributed by Kitten and the Bear, Wildcraft, Rowan Studios and Tealish, Le Dolci, and Wedding Bells. A hugs thank you to Wedding Bells for also covering the workshop on social media.
Plate Occasions, my very favourite tabletop decor company in Toronto, provided chargers, glassware, and cutlery for our participates to design with for the styling sessions of the workshop. The hands on approach of the workshop allows the group to play in person with textures, tone and complimenting elements.
Paige from Studio Bicyclette was back again this year as one of our guest speakers and branding mentors. Paige's insightful lessons included instagram strategies, branding storytelling, and lay flat styling.
I had the pleasure of leading the group in several sessions over the weekend including lessons on blogging and styled shoots, cultivating your brand with soul, pricing for creatives, and tabletop styling. The wonderful Scarlet O'Neill provided insights into the world of wedding photography and the relationship between planner and photographer.
Florist extraordinaire Tellie, from Hunt and Gather, walked the class through designing an arrangement in person and a session focused on the business of wedding flowers.
The weekend was very design and styling focused. During one session I walked the class through through my process of curating a vision and then executed a tablescape design for the group to demonstrate the lessons hands on.
Our talented group of ladies then had the opportunity to come up with their own styled shoot concept and execute a place setting based around their vision. We were so impressed with the classes' creativity and ability to apply the lessons explored in the workshop.
We finished the weekend off with a little mingle and prosecco catered by the fantastic Elle Cuisine. I want to thank all of our amazing contributors and the superb group of women who attended. I can't wait to continue building The Blush Creative community and for the next workshop.
